Bioactive Peptides and Protein Hydrolysates as Lipoxygenase Inhibitors
نویسندگان
چکیده
Lipoxygenases are non-heme iron-containing enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, resulting in production lipid hydroperoxides, which precursors inflammatory mediators. These widely distributed humans, other eukaryotes, and cyanobacteria. hold promise as therapeutic targets for several human diseases, including cancer inflammation-related disorders. Inhibitors lipoxygenase have potential applications pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food. Bioactive peptides short amino acid sequences embedded within parent proteins, can be released by enzymatic hydrolysis, microbial fermentation, gastrointestinal digestion. A wide variety bioactivities been documented protein hydrolysates derived from different biological sources. Recent findings indicate both edible non-edible bioresources act inhibitors. This review aims to provide an overview current knowledge regarding anti-lipoxygenase millet grains, chia seeds, insects, milk fish feed, velvet antler blood, scales, feather keratins. The activities modes action these discussed. strengths shortcomings previous research this area emphasized. Additionally, directions areas improvement suggested accelerate discovery near future.

Cucurbitaceae Seed Protein Hydrolysates as a Potential Source of Bioactive Peptides with Functional Properties
Seeds from Cucurbitaceae plants (squashes, pumpkins, melons, etc.) have been used both as protein-rich food ingredients and nutraceutical agents by many indigenous cultures for millennia. However, relatively little is known about the bioactive components (e.g., peptides) of the Cucurbitaceae seed proteins (CSP) and their specific effects on human health. Therefore, this paper aims to provide a ...
متن کاملFunctional and Bioactive Properties of Quinoa Seed Protein Hydrolysates
Quinoa protein concentrate was hydrolyzed with alcalase to obtain a hydrolysate that was fractionated by ultrafiltration using 10000and 5000-molecular-weight cutoff membranes. Functional properties of the protein concentrate, protein hydrolysate, and membrane permeates were compared at different pH values. Protein solubility of the hydrolysate and membrane permeates were significantly higher (P...
متن کاملNatural peptides and proteins: potent tyrosinase inhibitors
Background and objectives: Tyrosinase is a copper containing oxidase which is crucial for controlling the production of melanin in creatures such as bacteria, fungi, plants and mammals. It is involved in the first two steps of melanin biosynthesis and leads to pigmentation and different types of cancer such as melanoma. Also, it is responsible for browning of fruits and vegetab...
متن کاملb-Peptides as inhibitors of protein–protein interactions
We became interested several years ago in exploring whether 14-helical b-peptide foldamers could bind protein surfaces and inhibit protein–protein interactions, and if so, whether their affinities and specificities would compare favorably with those of natural or miniature proteins. This exploration was complicated initially by the absence of a suitable b-peptide scaffold, one that possessed a ...
